BIO

Dion Watkins is a dynamic copywriter, screenwriter, and director who has collaborated with an array of premiere brands, Fortune 500 companies, and global teams, creating captivating and purpose-driven work that resonates with a wide variety of audiences. Through the power of storytelling, he helps brands strategically reach people and build deeper, more human connections.

 

He has helped bring award-winning advertising to life, as the copywriter on creative teams whose work won the Gold Addy Award and multiple Addy Awards in Orange County, Gold People's Telly Award and Gold Telly Award for Social Impact, and his work as writer/director has been selected for the Venice (California) Shorts Film Festival, Hollywood Film Festival, BET's Lens on Talent, Bronzelens Film Festival and other showcases. He has worked with industry giants such as Google, Western Digital, and Dole (via a Disney partnership to promote healthy living and Star Wars) to name a few. Having written copy for the United States federal government, Dion's experience extends beyond traditional advertising.

 

Dion’s work has helped his remarkable clientele achieve over 100 million views on YouTube, illuminating commercial projects as well as showcasing Grammy nominated and award-winning artists such as Faith Evans, Anthony Hamilton, David Banner, André 3000, Fonzworth Bentley and Ye (Formerly Kanye West). His work as producer for iHeartMedia coupled with his ability to create work that has been promoted and featured by Apple further solidifies his industry prowess.

 

As a writer and director of narrative work, Dion excels, helming short films, music videos, and commercial work, and he has been the writer and associate producer of branded content. He's engaged in collaborative efforts with esteemed organizations like Accenture Song, Walden Media, MTV, Tyler Perry Studios, 20th Television and other outstanding teams in entertainment and advertising.

 

As screenwriter, his accomplishments include winning the highly competitive Writer's Room 5050 and Level 4 Press screenwriting fellowship and competition for adapting books to the screen.

 

Beyond his professional achievements, Dion also nurtures a passion for music and has recently unveiled his latest project, "Afterlight,” a soundtrack inspired by his forthcoming science fiction short film. An alumnus of the prestigious institutions, Morehouse College and the University of Southern California's Graduate School of Cinematic Arts, considered one of the top film programs in the United States, Dion skillfully channels his comprehensive experiences to craft memorable and impactful work across a multitude of platforms.
